The four most sacred pilgrim destinations of the Hindus are Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath and are collectively known as Char Dham.These shrines are located in the great Himalayas, which is believed as the abode of Lord Shiva. Every Hindu must visit these four sacred places at least once in lifetime. This pilgrimage begins from the West and ends in the East, so this yatra starts from Yamunotri, then proceeds to Gangotri and finally devotees visit Kedarnath and Badrinath. Each of these four places is devoted to a specific Hindu God or Goddesses and at each destination special Pooja and rituals are performed according to ancient Hindu traditions.
